Gin CitadelleOUR MUST

Citadelle Gin

The recipe for Citadelle gin was invented at a distillery in Dunkerque, in 1771. Dunkerque was one of the first European ports that received commercial vessels returning from voyages along the Oriental spice route.

Citadelle gin is created based upon the principles of the original recipe. While the methods of production have improved over time, the gin is still made from the original spices that have been used since its creation.

19 spices for a unique gin! Citadelle gin is the only gin in the world that uses 19 different spices. They give the gin a unique, complex and balanced taste. Its recipe remains a secret kept by the master distiller. Following the 17th century maritime trade routes traditions, the most refined spices are used in the recipe. Their origins are distant and their diversity is unequalled:

Spices

Juniper France, Coriander Morocco, Orange Peel Mexico, Cardamom India, Licorice China, Cubeb Pepper Java, Savory France, Fennel Mediterranean, Iris Italy, Cinnamon Sri Lanka, Violet France, Almond Spain, Cassia Indochina, Angelica Germany, Grains of Paradise West Africa, Cumin Holland, Nutmeg India, Lemon Peel Spain, Star Anise France.

Artisanal production techniques… Citadelle Gin is distilled three times, using wheat and distilled water.
After being carefully picked and measured, the 19 spices are immersed into the gin’s neutral alcohol,
inside a special envelope. This infusion is then distilled allowing the overlapping and complex flavours
to gradually bloom.

Citadelle Gin has a delicate nose, perfumed with citrus and juniper. It is elegant, round and supple body with
a long-lasting flavour that expresses the subtle complexities of its aromas. At 44%, Citadelle Gin is a perfect balance between intensity and finesse.

BOTTLES & SHAKERS – Fresh updates on international flair bartending and its participants.

Starting on Monday, April 20th, 2009, Quebec Flairbartenders will be able to get together to show off their skills on the Bar Wars stage which will take place every two weeks at the Lab, Cocktail Counter.

Bartenders who would like to participate will need to prepare a 2 to 4 minute choreographed routine using music from a CD or an Ipod. The rules are simple and based upon the FBA standards of competition.

The routines will take place on stage, behind a Flairco bar – both practice bottles and / or glass bottles can be used. Glass bottles must be filled with a minimum of ½ oz of liquid, except for working flair routines.

Doors will be open to the public and there is no charge for participants or spectators.

This event has been designed to encourage amateur bartenders as well as experienced ones to share their knowledge, learn new techniques and promote the sport of Flair bartending in a fun, congenial atmosphere!

The Lab, Cocktail Counter is located at 1351 Rachel East, corner Lanaudière.
